The Team
This may come as a surprise, but we aren't a bunch of washed-up professors. We don't code in Fortran. We actually know how to build modern web-scale software... crazy, right?
For starters, we're 25 years younger than any of those guys. But we're also users, professionals, makers, hobbyists, and hackers. Not only do we move faster, we think differently. And we know we can do better. Read about our story. And if you get that hardware matters and want to help build the pickaxes, check out our career opportunities or send us an email.

Zak Homuth
Founder and CEOZak dropped out of University of Waterloo to learn how to design mission critical hardware from the guys at Sandvine. He wrote the first lines of code for Upverter from an old student townhouse in Waterloo. These days he's usually out and about running Upverter's business affairs, but he still pitches in the odd bug fix.
In the little free time he has, Zak can be found on one of his bikes.

Stephen Hamer
Founder and CTOSteve left Xobni in San Francisco to move back to Canada just as winter was setting in our first year (he never forgave us). He has his hand in every aspect of our product, but spends most of his time on the backend, making sure Upverter is just as rock solid as possible.
He's an avid jogger and occasional rock climber.
-
Michael Woodworth
Founder and CIOMike finished at University of Waterloo and went to work at Trend Hunter before being dragged away by the siren's startup call and joining Upverter. As any good founder he is involved across the board, but spends most of his time building out the community website.
He's a die hard Leafs fan and loves to play shinny.

Alex Williams
Evil Mad ScientistAlex has spent the last few years hopping around different positions and companies in the mobile industry, from hardware prototyping at RIM, to Android development at Qualcomm. He enjoys working at any level of the product and loves to know how the product works at the system level.
In his spare time, Alex enjoys volunteering at his local hackerspace Kwartzlab and experimenting with various concepts in computer graphics.
